Curcuma Pink Cordata
Native to the mystic forests of tropical Thailand there is no wonder this Curcuma Pink Cordata eludes such enigmatic energy wherever it is placed. Suited well for large pots that compliment the hues and vibes of your home, containers and tropical gardens. Whimsical are the intricate creamy-green flowers, flushed with bright pink tips as though each petal is blushing. These blooms are held high on thick stalks producing pretty yellow day flowers when well-loved.
All complemented with large lush foliage that is textured like a handheld fan is a very tropical and captivating addition to any space.
PLANT ME
In a pot or in the ground. In a rich, well draining soil.
KEEP ME IN
Somewhere with a good amount of natural light.
PUT ME OUT
In a warm, sheltered spot.
WATER ME
Daily during warm months when I have leaves and flowers. Not at all when I’m dormant and have lost my leaves. (Natural winter rainfall is fine).
FEED ME
A good, balanced slow release or organic fertiliser.
I LIKE
To be left to shed my leaves at the end of the season. Please don’t pull them off as you may damage my rhizome (root / bulb). Some mulch to help me regulate my temperature and water.
MY FLOWERS
Appear from December to May and make great cut flowers.
NOTES
My rhizome can be harvested and stored somewhere warm, dark and dry for future propagation. I’m part of the Ginger family – similar to the type we eat and have a rhizome that looks and smells similar.
