Calathea Fasciata

This tropical plant outstretches its full patterned green foliage with maroon undersides and an illustrious nature to each leaf for all to see. This Calathea Fasciata is charismatic and fascinating as its leaves outstretch and add positive energy to the space where you keep it. This evergreen grows upward in a clump forming habit and will be a fascinator wherever you have it within the home.

PLANT ME

In a well-draining pot with porous soil. It’s fun to choose a colour pot that compliments your space and my exotic green and maroon coloured leaves.

KEEP ME IN

A place with medium to bright indirect light. If you notice my leaf colours begin to fade then I am seeing too much sun.

PUT ME OUT

In a tropical environment that reminds me of where I came from, the densely vegetated tropical rainforests of South America. In short I love plenty of warmth, humidity and shade.

WATER ME

Regularly but sparingly, I love moist soil but hate wet roots. Also note that I don’t love tap water. Distilled, filtered and rainwater are the perfect alternatives.

FEED ME

With a general houseplant fertiliser every four weeks during the warm months. There is no reason to in the winter as I naturally grow slowly during this season. Less is more with this.

I LIKE

A comfortable and humid environment, temperatures over 15C are ideal. Feel free to mist me with water and wipe down my pretty leaves with a damp cloth so they don’t gather dust.

NOTES

The Fasciata is non-toxic to cats, dogs and humans.

Care Tips	Wipe down my leaves with a damp cloth if you ever want to give me some extra love. To keep this plant vibrant and healthy remove any yellow or brown leaves. Avoid putting me through any sudden temperature changes and remember how much I love warmth and humidity. Mist me with water often and if you live in a cooler climate consider adding a pebble tray and/or humidifier to my space.
